MANILA, Philippines -- A resident of Olongapo City is facing parricide charges for killing his wife after taking her hostage Wednesday.
The suspect also tried to take his own life.
Police have yet to determine what drove Victor Rodriguez, 42, to take his wife Marivic, 38, hostage inside their home in Purok 1 Mactan in Barangay Cabalan Wednesday morning.
A police Special Weapons and Tactics team responding to the incident decided to storm the house after finding Marivic already lifeless.
They found Rodriguez also bleeding from stab wounds to the abdomen he inflicted with the same kitchen knife he had used to kill his wife.
Rodriguez was rushed to a hospital where he is recuperating while charges are readied against him.
