The Dangers Of Social Media
(Child Predator Social Experiment)
Young girls today are very active when using the internet. Though Facebook requires users to be 18 years old and above, many underage children use Facebook without the knowledge of their parents. Girls as young as 10-12 years of age engage in conversations with strangers—not even knowing the dangers of being “too friendly” towards people they haven’t actually met.
These girls easily fall prey to sexual predators who use these different social media sites to ‘hunt’ for victims.
YouTube user Coby Persin decided to conduct a social experiment, wherein he would chat with them and try to get these girls’ trust and “lure” them into meeting with him. He pretended to be a boy the same age as these girls are—to test how vulnerable these children could be without their parents’ knowledge.
Unknown to the girls, their parents were actually in on it. Before Coby started talking to them, he informed the parents about this social experiment—to which the latter agreed to.After talking with Coby for a few days, they all agreed to meet with him—not thinking of the dangers it may bring.
Of course, their parents were shocked, scared and furious as to how the girls were so vulnerable and easily lured out.
To all parents out there: always keep an eye on your children—especially your daughters. Keep your children OFF social media. To all the young girls active on these sites: always keep in mind that not everything on the internet is real. Keep safe!
