MV Wonderful Stars of Roble Shipping Lines caught fire early Saturday morning shortly after docking at the pier in Ormoc City, Leyte.
According to Inquirer reports, the vessel came from Cebu, carrying 544 passengers, 17 of whom were children.
Ormoc Coast Guard commander Giovanni Bergantin told Inquirer in a phone interview that as of 9 a.m., fire fighters were still working to put out the blaze.
The report noted: there was no reported casualty in the fire. Passengers had just disembarked from the vessel when the fire broke out.
Last month, M/B Kim Nirvana capsized while undocking from the Port of Ormoc, killing 61 passengers.
The craft was carrying 173 passengers and 16 crew members when it capsized.
